Bakelandt - Hec Leemans : 2002 Belgium

The Flemish comic artist Hec Leemans is best known as the creator of the historical series 'Bakelandt', and as the author of the 'FC De Kampioenen' comics. Hector Leemans was born in 1950 in Temse, and received his artistic education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dendermonde. After his studies, he entered the comics field as the co-worker of Sylvain Polfliet in 1969. Together, they made the espionage strip 'Brian Howell' in the daily newspaper Het Volk.

On 20 October 1975, Leemans achieved his breakthrough when his strip 'Bakelandt' was published in the Belgian newspapers Het Laatste Nieuws and De Nieuwe Gazet. Belgium Railways issued a Railway Letter Stamp souvenir sheet with a single 8.50-euro stamp showing Tintin on a train. The first day usage was on three high-speed rail routes from Brussels, Antwerp or Liege to Paris and Strasbourg with a return journey on 2007-Sep-24. The cancel for the trip originating in Brussels matched the design on the stamp

Cédric is a Belgian comics series written by Raoul Cauvin, illustrated by Laudec. The comic is about the adventures of a young rascal, including his family and his school life. Cédric is a hero close to the hearts of all children, funny yet tender at the same time. Between the teacher, the school shrink, nosy parents, rowdy pals, an odious niece, and a temperamental girlfriend, Cédric finds it hard to keep his tranquility. For the better part of it, his grandfather is always at hand. 

Cédric is a 8 year old boisterous boy arriving at his new school, in the first volume. He quickly meets Christian, who becomes his best friend, and Miss Nellie, his teacher with whom he falls in love. He lives with his maternal grandfather and his parents with an often tense atmosphere between his father Robert and his grandfather Jules.

1984 the Belgian Comic Strip Museum was founded as a non-profit, to promote comic strips and maintain the Art Nouveau archtectural masterpiece (Waucquez Warehouse-1906) that housed the project. Located in Brussels, the Museum opened its doors to the public  1989-Oct-06. Every year more than 200,000 visitors pass through its doors to explore permanent and temporary exhibits of comic art. The Center collects and preserves anything that deals with European comics

He lives in a house in the suburbs with his master, Sémaphore, a retired sailor, next door to Sénéchal, the black and white cat who is Cubitus' nemesis.

Largo Winch is a Belgian comic book series by Philippe Francq and Jean Van Hamme, published by Dupuis. It started as a series of novels by Van Hamme in the late 1970s, but stopped due to a lack of success. When artist Philippe Francq wanted to start a series with Van Hamme, he revived his old hero, and reworked the novels into the first albums of the comic book series.

Chlorophylle : 1996 Belgium

Chlorophylle is a Belgian comics series and Raymond Macherot's best known work, alongside Sibylline. It is a fantasy comic about anthropomorphic forest animals, including the title character Chlorophylle, who is a dormouse. Chlorophylle is set in a European forest, more specifically in the animal kingdom of Coquefredouille. It's a world in itself and a mini anthropomorphic version of human society.

Nero : 1989 Belgium

The Adventures of Nero or Nero was a Belgian comic strip drawn by Marc Sleen (1922-2016) and the name of its main character. The original title ranged from De Avonturen van Detectief Van Zwam in 1947 to De Avonturen van Nero en zijn Hoed in 1950, and finally De Avonturen van Nero & Co from 1951. It ran in continuous syndication until 2002. From 1947 until 1993 it was all drawn by Sleen himself. From 1992 until 2002 Dirk Stallaert took over the drawing while Sleen kept inventing the stories.

Stam and Pilou : 2001 Belgium

Marc Daniëls was a Belgian painter and comic creator. He is best known for his collaborations with Rik Dewulf (who called themselves "De Marck & De Wulf") in their Studio Max! comics, notably the children's adventure 'Stam & Pilou' (1999) for the Belgian postal services. In 1999, Studio Max! was hired by the Belgian postal service, La Poste, to create two mascots for their young stamp collectors' club and its magazine StamPilou . De Marck and Rik De Wulf introduced a boy, Stam, and a girl, Pilou, who lived in the same neighborhood. The good friends were often pitted against Pilou's grandfather, Fons, who was once a postman but is now a stamp collector. Known as The Unintentional Adventures of Stam and Pilou, the series was published in the club's magazine StamPilou, but was so popular that La Poste also launched a book series in cooperation with Standaard Uitgeverij
