Pokémon themed stamps of La Poste will be available starting 2024-Feb-28 with a pre-sale happening on Feb-27 (Pokemon Day) at Carré d’Encre. The main stamp features Pikachu and will have 750,000 copies, along with a limited special edition of 20,000 copies, featuring stamps of Pikachu, Salamèche, Carapuce and Bulbizarre in a special booklet of four stamps, selling for 10 euros, in the shape of a Poké Ball - the ball used to capture, keep and protect Pokémon

Max and Moritz: A Story of Seven Boyish Pranks is a German language illustrated story in verse. It was written and illustrated by Wilhelm Busch and published in 1865 and has since had significant cultural impact, both in German-speaking countries, where the story has been passed down through generations, and in the wider world, after translation into many languages. It has been adapted for film and television, as well as inspiring comic strips and children's TV characters. Many familiar with comic strip history consider it to have been the direct inspiration for the Katzenjammer Kids

During my family's visit to Disney World, Epcot Center, I brought a Florida first day cover with me. I had known about the Epcot Center rubber stamps used at each country's pavilion.My idea was to obtain an Italian stamp, part of my heritage, and provide a small write up of our visit to Disney.

This game show was built around the personality of its host, comedy star Groucho Marx, who loaded his banter with quips. A toy duck lowered from the ceiling delivered a cash prize when contestants said the week's “secret word,” a common word selected in advance. The actual quiz was less the focal point than the opportunity to unleash Grocho's wit.

When our first ancestors established on the Faroe Islands, they choose to place their common parliament at a small, bipartite bay, at the centre of the islands.  And to emphasize the conditions of life here in the North Atlantic Ocean, they called the bay Tórshavn, after Thor, one of the most powerful deities of the Viking Age.

Ran was the wife of the sea-deity Aegir, whose name is still used as a poetical paraphrase for the sea.  Together they had nine daughters, wild and intractable like their mother, and each one of them symbolized different aspects of the waves.  They were called:  Himinglæva (wave that reflects the light of the sky), Dúfa (the pitching one), Blóðughædda (bloddy hair – the sea after a naval battle), Hefring (the raising one), Uðr (wave), Hrönn (sinking wave), Bylgja (big wave), Drøfn (wave) and Kolga (the cool one).

Mortadelo y Filemon : 2025 Spain

Coinciding with the first anniversary of the death of Francisco Ibáñez, creator of ‘Mortadelo y Filemón’, Correos released the first crypto stamp issued in Spain, depicting Mortadelo y Filemon

One of the most well known and beloved couples of Spanish strip cartoon, Mortadelo y Filemon (Clever & Smart) were created in 1958 by the cartoonist and scriptwriter Francisco Ibañez Talavera.

Gorgo - UK : 1961

Gorgo is a 1961 British monster film directed by Eugène Lourié and featuring special effects by Tom Howard, and starring Bill Travers, William Sylvester and Vincent Winter. In the film, an undersea volcano sends tremors throughout the Atlantic, a prehistoric creature is unleashed from under the sea. The crew of a salvage vessel capture the gigantic amphibious sea creature and take it to London for public exhibition. It results in the creature's much larger mother invading London in search of her offspring, causing catastrophic destruction across the city.

 

The Art of Disney : 2008 Imagination

The Postal Service™ issued The Art of Disney: Imagination commemorative stamps in four designs. With the help of some of Walt Disney’s famous characters, these four stamps illustrate the theme of imagination. Mickey Mouse as Steamboat Willie; Princess Aurora and her helpers Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather from Sleeping Beauty; Pongo and one of his pups from 101 Dalmatians; and Mowgli and Baloo from The Jungle Book.
