2005 France issued 10 stamps commemorating the video game culture. Stamps honored were Nintendo's Donkey Kong arcade game created by Shigeru Miyamoto in 1981. Mario Brothers created by Miyamoto for Nintendo in 1983 and Link from Legend of Zelda, action adventure game created by Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka in 1986.

Nameco's 1980 maze-video game Pac-Man. Core Designs' action adventure game Lara Croft Tomb Raider, released in 1996. Broderbund's action adventure game Prince of Persia, created by Jordan Mechner in 1989. Insomniac Game's Spyro, exclusive for Sony's Playstion console. Ubisoft's Adibou, developed by Coktel Vision in the 1990s and Rayman developed in 1995. Electronic Arts' The Sims 2000 social simulation video game developed by Maxis.
