Tom Poes - Marten Toonder : 1996 Netherlands

Comic Strips Stamps – pays tribute to the vast collection of the dutch writer and cartoonist Marten Toonder (1912-2005). Two of his main characters, Mr Oliver B Bommel (Ollie B Bumble) and his young friend Tom Poes, are a source of inspiration to youngsters and adults alike

Tom Poes was a talking animal comic, published in text comics format. The main protagonists are Tom Poes, a white anthropomorphic cat, and his best friend, the bear lord Oliver B. Bommel. The series is sometimes referred to as the Bommelsaga as well. Toonder received many awards and honorary distinctions for both his illustrations and literary output. In the Netherlands Tom Poes became regarded as a work of literature.

Fokke & Sukke : 2018 Netherlands

The Netherlands’ PostNL marked the 25th anniversary of a newspaper comic strip about a duck and a canary, Fokke & Sukke, on two stamps issued April 23 to introduce new frames for personalized stamps.

The stamps show different designs of Fokke and Sukke posing for selfies. Martin Majoor designed the stamps, using illustrations from the comic strip’s creators, Jean-Marc van Tol, John Reid and Bastiaan Geleijnse.

F.C. Knudde : 1998 Netherlands

Toon van Driel is a Dutch cartoonist, comics writer and comics artist, best known for his comics series F.C. Knudde, about an incompetent association football team, and De Stamgasten, which features anthropomorphic animals telling corny jokes in a bar. He is the winner of the 1988 Stripschapprijs. Van Driel was also the original writer of Eric Schreurs' comic strip Joop Klepzeiker.
